SUMMER IS HERE!
From trips to the pool to boating on the lake, loads of time is spent by water.
When my daughter, Aubrey, was two and a half years old, she and I went to Lake Powell with some of my extended family. As soon as we reached the boat ramp, I put a life vest on her. I explained to her that if she were to fall into the water it would help her float. "Just put your nose to the sky," I told her. Then we began loading the boat with our supplies. It wasn't very long before my seven year old niece called to me to tell me that "Aubrey is floating away!" I dashed into the water and found her calmly floating on her back, nose to the sky. She had ventured out too far and her feet couldn't touch the ground anymore.
Today, Aubrey is a swim instructor for Utah Aquatics Academy. They offer private lessons with emphasis on survival swimming. Choose an instructor that matches your child's personality and you'll be happy with the results. There are three* locations for summer; Sandy, Riverton, and Highland.
